Why choose lip enhancement?

Throughout the ages, the lips and mouth area have long been considered one of the most important features of the female face. Our lips and mouth are an indicator of our emotions and fuller lips have always been associated with youth and beauty.

As part of the natural ageing process, the composition of our lips and surrounding structures alter. From the peak of fullness in your 20s the lips start showing changes. Between the ages of 30-40, along with other factors such as gravity, genetics, and smoking, the mouth may appear to look ‘sad-mouthed’ or drooping. It may even have lipstick bleed lines and flattening of the cupid’s bow all culminating in the lips looking less defined.

What does the treatment involve?

We offer free consultations with Dr Dipen Patel here at Kent House Dental Clinic, giving you the chance to make sure you are suitable for treatment. We discuss the treatment in detail and give you the chance to ask any questions.

We can use either numbing cream or local anaesthetic injections before treatment to minimise discomfort. We use either a fine needle or a cannula to administer the filler to your lips. We have 0.5ml syringes (only in Juvederm) or 1ml syringes (both Juvederm and Restylane), depending on how much dermal filler is required.

Afterwards, there might be a small amount of swelling which will quickly subside. Depending on the area treated, it usually takes no longer than 30 minutes and you can leave the clinic as soon as you are ready to do so.

Do fillers hurt?

Modern fillers contain a local anaesthetic called lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment. Our carefully designed needles also minimise pain.

How long will my fillers last?

Treatment typically lasts up to 18 months but this will depend on the amount and type of Restylane your practitioner selects. Many people like to have a maintenance treatment before this time to maintain their results.

Who will carry out my lip filler treatment?

Dermal filler treatments are only carried out by fully qualified Dr Dipen Patel in our modern, regulated, and well-equipped clinic.

Should I avoid anything after treatment?

Until signs of inflammation disappear we recommend you avoid exposing the treated area to extreme heat like sunbathing, saunas, or steam baths.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects are treatment-site reactions like swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness. These usually resolve within a week.

What’s the difference between products?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar in the skin that’s responsible for hydration. We have the world’s most diverse range of dermal fillers, which means whatever treatment you’re after, you can work with your clinician to create a bespoke treatment tailored specifically for you
